Qurbani

Sadaqah

“(Qurbani) is the Sunnah of your father Ibrahim (AS). For every hair of the Qurbani you receive a reward from Allah (SWT).” Hadith – Trimidhi

On the celebration of Eid Ul Adha, which marks the completion of the annual Hajj, Muslims honour the tradition of the Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.) by sacrificing an animal and distributing the meat to those in need. The purpose of Qurbani is to teach us obedience and devotion to Allah (swt), and encourages us to help other Muslim brothers and sisters. The meat from Qurbani is divided into three portions: one for the family, one for the neighbour and one for the poor. As it is difficult to perform Qurbani in the UK, most people will make their donation overseas where there is a greater need.

The Al Zohra Trust’s Qurbani Programme distributes fresh meat in Pakistan, providing each household with 5kg of meat, which lasts more than a week.

Last year our partner NGO based in Pakistan distributed Qurbani meat to approximately 12,000 of the poorest people in Pakistan. This year the Trust plans to build on the success of the Qurbani programme and reach even more people. Make your Qurbani donation  today!

*Please Note – We are not yet accepting Qurbani donations for the year 2015.
